Boiler works but doesn't get CH to required temp?

My Alpha 240E boiler will produce hot water and some heat for central heating but it goes on for a bit then stops, so temp in the house is 16 deg C not 20 deg C. Any suggestions much appreciated..

After two visits from the boiler man this turned out to be a worn out temperature sensor. An easy job to fix but an overall £120 in call outs.
