I have a laptop (ibm thinkpad i series 1200) Iwant to use the Lan connector to my Adsl router. Could the Lan connector be disabled?

try updating your ethernet driver
of in the control pannel-network and internet-network and sharing center-manage network connection
you will get local area network icon right click properties ther you select internet protocol 4 properties get the info to fill in that blank spaces from your network service provider
this is for windows vista
