My toilet has suddenly stopped flushing away the paper, it will flush the waste, but it needs several attempts to get rid of the paper, even 1 sheet!!

Has the amount of water that is being used reduced?
Can you open up the top of the cistern to see how far the water is rising?
Have a look at the watermarks and this should indicate of the water level has been getting less.
You can adjust the ball cock so that more water enters the cistern, have a look inside the cistern - let me know how you get on.
