When I switch the machine on it goes into the first cycle and stays there - the timer counts down from 54 minutes which is start of cycle time and then stops at 49 minutes - I then have to pause the machine, press the skip button - it then changes cycle and counts down from 48 minutes and continues the full cycle. Can anyone explain whats stopping the cycle at 49 minutes

try this machine and leave it on for 30 mins at 49mins and hopefully the timer will start to count down again.it might be holding the timer until the water is heated up as some machines don't count during heating cycle.
