I know I am having the same problem! I know how to thread the top, so here: Make sure the thread spool is on the little stick on the top. Put the stick end in front of the spool of thread so it's now secure there. Take some thread and put it through the little meatal piece (in front of the spool. it is tiny and kinda hard to put the thread through.) Then wrap it around the circle piece by first wrapping left looking at the sewing machine. Then when you go all around it once, put it through the piece that it near the end but at the top and put it through the opening. Now you take it down the slit and make a U-turn and put it through the silver piece inside the other bigger slit. Bring it down and put the thread in the eye of the nedel. Bring the nedel to it's lowest point by using the hand turning located on the right side of the machine. That's all I know, for inforfamtion about threading the whole thing, go here-> http://www.ehow.com/how_8491698_use-singer-3116-sewing.html
just cut and paste it to the search bar! Good luck! :)
