I have had the exact same problem, Showerdoctor.co.uk had the relevant part and I was able to fit it myself and I am a female!

Female, September 2009
mains pressure won't stop the shower giving a flow.
blocked showerhead has nothing to do with low pressure light coming on.
furred up heat exchanger don't mean a new shower at all.

so in all jon you talk rubbish.

as hi-spec said if you have low pressure light
and the shower is giving no flow the solenoid valve has failed.

triton showerman, August 2009
Mains pressure is low, which isnt that common, or blockage either in feed pipework or shower filter itself, some showers have a built on strain filter, if this is clogged with debree, it will reduce flow to shower causing a low pressure fault, the heat exchanger on the shower may be furred up, which means a new shower unit or shower head is blocked with calcium, remove head and turn on shower, if okay clean head, if not, then one of other problems i have mntioned. jon

i would test it first.
isolate the power to the shower and do a resistance test on the solenoid using a multi meter.

your looking for 3.4 ohms or above.
