Washing machine goes through wash cycle but won't "final spin"?

Hi,

I have a Hotpoint WM80P washing machine that goes through the wash cycle as normal but won't do a "final spin" on any of the 3 final spin positions. I was told it was the carbon brushes, so I've replaced them only to be stuck with the same problem. Clothes are left soaked at end of programme. :(

What would the problem be?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, for responses, I don't have a "drip dry setting". It was fine & I used it as normal (I mostly use 30 - 40 degree progs). Circuit board is something I thought of after the belt. Old brushes were only 2 thirds worn down. When the motor is in use it doesn't sound particularly smooth. Does your motor sound noisy as well Barbara?

This has just happened to mine, I was told by an engineer that the control box has had it. A new one would be £140, havn't checked this out yet.
