Had same problem with mine - lots of times!. Caused by drain filter in the machine being full of scraps etc washed from plates etc. Blocks the outlet, water overflows into sump at the bottom which activates an overflow float switch shutting everything down. You need to be prepared to mop up a lot of water, gently tip the machine backwards and the water will begin to pour out of the bottom of the machine. Continue until all water out. This may in itself be enough but if not you can remove the (5 I think) screws from the overflow tray under the machine ( you'll have to lay it on its side to do this, and then all will become clear. Sometimes a wiggle of the float switch is enough to get it all going again. Replace tray, stand upright, connect all pipes again and you should be away...
In future insist that your other half rinses plates before putting in the machine and check the trap in the machine and empty each time.
