I lost my CD/DVD-ROM DRIVE? How do I re-install it??

How do I get it back? I can't re-install Windows XP because I don't have a CD-ROM drive? PLease don't tell me to format the entire drive again. The PC is a Dell Dimension XPS.

I had a similar problem with my Compaq Presario. Lost my CD/DVD-ROM drive, couldn't figure it out. I stumbled onto a solution that may help you. If you feel comfortable doing it. 1. With your computer off, open up your tower and find the cable that connects the CD drive to the mother board. 2. Disconnect that cable and start up your pc. 3. Then shut it down. 4. Reconnect the cable and restart your pc. It should then pick up that you have installed something and it should prompt you to accept the driver for the CD/DVD-ROM. Hope this helps. That is exactly what I did.
