How do I fit a modern plug to an old 706 series BT Phone?

not sure in which order to connect the wires into the new BT plug I've bought. There's white, red, green and blue. Cheers!

It isn't just a matter of connecting the wires, you need to modify the phone as well. So to modify it: Remove link between 6 & 7. Add link between 17 & 18. Replace link between 4 & 5 with a 3k3 resistor.

Now, connect the red wire to 8. Connect the white wire to 17. Connect the blue wire to 6. The green wire isn't used and so connect it to 12 for neatness sake.

If your thinking of using the old wiring from the phone I'm not sure this is possible - try this website -

I did a 706 conversion and had to use a new type phone line wired into the phone itself, this guy will help you with this.
