Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ30 repair question?

I have a DMC FZ30 that has always worked well and taken great photos without fault. However, I recently removed the memory card, and when I tried to replace it the screen read "Memory card error" "Please check the card"

I thought this particular card may have been damaged, so tried a couple more (that are working fine in another camera) and the same problem. I bought a new panasonic memory card and tried that and am getting the same problem.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this? I'm guessing it may be the contacts inside the camera.

Your memory card can't be greater than 2mb or it will read error!!!!!!

I got this model used without a card. I inserted a 4G card and got this error message. I told the guy I got it from about this and he told me this model uses only cards up to only 2Go. I guess that's what was the biggest they made them at the time when this model came out. Hope this helps.

Same problem.

This camera cannot be replaced with a new equivalent. All the alternatives have smaller sensors, and most do not have manual zoom. I have ordered a used FZ-50 (despite Japanese menus).

I want an SLR-equivalent with a fixed super zoom lens. SLRs are a pain because of dust on the sensor, multi-lens kits, and expense. Panasonic had the market. If only they would reclaim it.

Does anyone know how the FZ-30 might be disassembled far enough to get access to the flash card contacts?

check the memory card is not in the locked position

Have you guys tried to reset the camera setting and well file no also. It might have just reached the limit.

I have exactly the same problem. Last month after a couple of years use taking thousands of photos the camera refuses to recognize any of the memory cards I own.

Does anyone KNOW which screws need to be removed to get in where the memory card contacts are located?

Without a fix for this problem the camera becomes just a piece of junk - a real shame.

I think the one or more contact pins inside the camera body is bent or unable to contact with the SD card. You can check with the SD card removed and look into the slot for any defect.

Wish I had your answer, because I have the same problem.
My Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 has worked flawlessly, until today.
When I turned on the camera I got the same message: "Memory card error" "Please check the card"
Put the cardfthat was in the Lumix into another camera and it worked fine.
Put the card from another camera into the Lumix and got the above error message.
Any ideas?
