Bathroom light pull cord?

I need to replace bathroom pull cord ceiling switch . New replacement is marked L1 , L2 , COM and Earth sign . Earth wire is not connected at present but I can lengthen this . Please would you be so good as to confirm red live goes to COM and black neutral wire to L1 . Thanks . Regards WM

Thanks very much Will . L2 on this fitting didn't have brass internals. Everything OK now and in good working order. But whatever was wrong with +ve and -ve on fittings. Was that too confusing for Brussels . Kind Regards WM

yes that is correct, but the norm is L2 for black, not that it makes much difference with a pull cord. The earth does not have to be connected but if you wish Its good practice to.
