my machine will fill up on start of the cycle and then stop it wont spin either plz help

I've had 2 beko machines which have developed a spin problem. It seems to occur if there has been a wash with too much detergent previously. I'm guessing that the detergent gets into the balance sensors and prevents them from working properly. However, in all cases so far the machine works properly again after 24 - 48 hours when it drys out.
