my dyson dc07 sounds like a boeing 747,why?

i bought a "reconditioned"Dyson dc07 purple/silver as i cannot use a cylinder vacuum from my wheel chair, when it was delivered home by my carer it was smelling disgusting and sound was deafening "reconditioner said it would be filters as they are changed at extra cost, took 8 hours to clean it then changed filters no smell thanks to us but noise just as load cannot use it!help please!!

the dyson DC07 is very old now, you may prefer a DC25, or a DC24 (THE SMALLER VERSION OF THE DC25) which is much quieter, also it would be better for you, as it is the ball version, so it is small, light and manouverable. also that won't smell, as it has the brand new Hepa-filteration system which is now washable and you won't need to buy new ones, it is also MUCH easier to empty and its expelled air is 150 times cleaner than the air you breathe.
The DC-07 is quite old now, so thats probably why, visit the dyson website and take a look at the DC24
it may seem a tad pricey, however it's very much worth it, i have one myself.
As for the name, well the DC stands for dual cyclone and the number represents the model
Hope that has helped!

yours faithfully
