Toilet cistern fills up with too much water after flush!?

When the toilet is flushed the cistern fills up with too much water and the excess shoots out the overflow pipe. This happens even thought the ballcock is up and has shut off the valve - the water still keeps coming in.

Water pressure has dropped. Do nothing, except wait until the water pressure has been restored. Job done! No idea what’s going on, but I have experienced this at least twice.

Either the ball valve is set too high and does not shut the valve off soon enough (make it lower in the water) OR the valve is continuing to let water into the cistern.

They often have a nylon adjusting screw - screw it in towards the valve and tighten the locking nut.

Good luck...
