Bosch washing machine motor problem?????

I have a bosch maxx wfl 2400 washing machine (bought in germany)
When a cycle is started the machine fills with water ok and drains but when the drum is due to turn, nothing happens.
I can hear what sounds ike a contactor or relay click on when the drum should turn and eventually click off but the motor doesnt turn at all.
When i remove the rear panel, the drum and motor turn freely and the belt is ok.
Any advice as to what i should check first?
My own opinion is to check that power is reaching the motor. If it isnt, is there any reasons you know of why before i go on a wild goose chase.
Is it likely to be the brushes on the motor??
Thanks for your time and knowledge!

it will be the brushs and they are easy to change just unplug the motor and remove from the machine. remove the brushes fit the new one just make sure they go in the right way the slanted point on the tip. then refitt.

Also in your equation should be the drive transistor (possibly Triac BTB24) mounted on a heat sink - and the motor start/run capacitor.

The motor brushes are relatively easy to check and if defective cheap to buy new ones so I would suggest you do that first. My guess, however, is that the brushes will be fine unless you noticed crackles, smells and rough running before the motor stopped working.

The motor drive transistor is even cheaper than a set of brushes and is easy to change too but will need some heat sink compound and the use of a soldering iron - they oftem mount them on the control board screwed to a metal radiator thingy.

Testing a capacitor is relatively difficult but it should be easy to change if you need to - best to take a digital picture before removing any wires.

Good luck...
