Is it possible to undo a work top join to reseal it?

Our kitchen was fitted about a year ago and we have just noticed that the joint nearest the sink is missing the double headed screws that pull the joint together, this means that even though it was sealed, water has begun to expand the wood, before it gets any worse I was wondering if I re sealed the join and put in the screws would this stop the problem getting worse? Or am I looking at having to replace the whole things?

HI There:
Unfortunately once the water has penetrated the work top it will not stop blowing would recommended to replace the work top look in your local paper for kitchen firms that re- new fascias to replace them your self you need allot of tools. I am retired Joiner LT West Yorkshire
