Motor problem on Miele S380 vacuum cleaner?

The motor on my S380 vacuum cleaner has developed a fault. After switching on, it runs at a fraction of the revs that it should do for about 1/2 a second and the revs then reduce for another 1/2 a second making it sound as if the motor will cut out completely. However, the revs then return to the earlier, slightly higher position and the process then repeats. I have checked for blockages & tangles, changed the filters, but with no effect.

Any suggestions. If I have to remove the body, what type of screwdriver do I need?

probably the capacitor on the print is loose. happened to me twice. replace it and it works again.
Use a torq screwdriver (don't know the exact size).

The trouble with my S380 was an open circuit, one meg ohm resister at R7,situated on the motor control panel, fitted on the back of the motor. Also my vacuum cleaner was held together with Torx socket head screws.

I have the same problem. It looks as though it is quite commom. You would think that Miele, with its reputation for reliability would have come up with a fix by now.

Hello,

I am searching for an answer as I have the very same problem! It seems like miele reliability is not what it's made out to be!

I have the same problem...
I agree with the other answer..
However I would like to know if the fault is the motor or the pcb.
Its a stepping motor I would like to understand the failure mode..
