Hi Steve,
I have finished taking my machine apart ot get to the bearing and wish I hadn't! It is a real pain of a job. I now have access and the bearing has completely broken. I have read on some websites that it is better to replace the whole of the rear drum rather than attempting to change the bearings themselves. I am not sure how to actually do it but on E-Bay, the bearings seem to be selling for between £15 and £25 or the whole of the rear drum, that has bearings already installed, for about £75.
Here is a link to one seller on E-Bay: -

Here is a site that mentions about replacing the half drum and quotes a price.

As my machine is 5.5 years old, I think I may replace it rather than spend a lot of money and time trying to fix it. I have just looked at it again and it is such a difficult job to do.
Good luck whichever option you choose!
