What advantage is there to us if we do change it?

If we change it must the sky box be plugged into the 'phone line?

If you do not change it then at some point in the future the services that are decoded by the old card will simply stop working.

There is no need to plug the Sky STB into a telephone line unless you use Interactive Services or have Multi Room. Everything else, including Viewing Card 'Stay Alive' signals come via the satellite link.

In other words, change the card.
