Youtube has a video of washing machine brushes being changed...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GmtRBiXLFc

on a hotpoint machine... My Bosch W/M motor has the brushes fixed each with two cross point screws and a push on wire - you will get carbon black on your fingers.

The brushes remain stationary and deliver electrical power to the rotating part of the motor - you can access the motor from the rear of the machine. The brushes are at the end of the motor opposite to the belt drive pulley. Your brush changing will probably be easier than that shown in the video - no clips or springs to fiddle around with I suspect.

The video shows brush replacement with the motor removed probably because they couldn't get a camera inside the machine.

Good luck...
