how to fix the chain on the saw ?

the chain on my mac cat 839 chain saw is not spinning and the motor keeps cutting out i cant see that it is jammed and have also tightened the chain if anyone has any suggestions would be appreciated

You know the handle that you hold when you are using the saw? Well, normally there is another handle just in front of that one, and if you shove it forwards firmly it stops the chain dead. To release it, you pull it sharply towards you until it clicks. Thats the norm, anyway!
