Why does computer shut downand then go to blue screen?

I have a Gateway GT5428 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium. Two or three times daily it shuts down, goes to a blue screen indicating an error and then I have to reboot.

How can I correct this? Thanks.

Haven't had much experience with Vista but with XP I would go to control panel/administrative tools/event viewer and see if any clues.
