My Ford Mondeo CD 6000 is mute despite correct code?

My Ford Mondeo CD 6000 was disconnected for a week and now is mute despite correct code.Unit lights up as if OK but only gives a very faint sound.Dealer says unit is now US.
Any suggestions?
