Appliances downstairs not working, but lights are on!?

Appliances downstairs not working, but lights are on! The TV, Washing machines, etc are not working, but all the downstairs lights are working fine.

Checked the fusebox and it has not tripped off or anything.

Help much appreciated...

The lights and the appliance sockets will be on two different circuits - if the power breaker for downstairs sockets has not tripped then you have a fault that very probably needs the skills of a certified electrician.
