E3 On Kenwood KDW243A?

The water does not seem to be heating up during the cycle and I get an E3 signal. None of my paperwork gives me a list of fault codes and what they mean. Have I got a programming fault or do I need a new element? Dishwasher is 18 months old!

People seem to say its either the thermal cut out kits (supplied as pairs from either Partmaster or 4kenwood at about £6 a pair plus postage) or the heating element which is about £40 from the same places. Need to remove the side panels of the dishwasher to access them and unscrew to replace. Just bought the thermal cut outs and am going to try it myself. If it works it will save me a fortune on the call out!
