nothing i can find will stop the light from blinking and resume sales on th register

Hi.
Some models have paper sensing that will cause flshing if the paper is low or empty. Make sure the paper rolls have plenty of paper on them

You might try a Status Clear. To do this you will need a service key (one with an S stamped on it). If you don't have one, you'll need to take the register to a dealer to have it done. Here's the procedure:

1) Unplug the register.
2) Insert the S key and turn it to the BLIND position. This is one click clockwise past the Z position at approximately the 5 o'clock position.
3) Plug the register in. If this works, the register will print STATUS-C on the printer.
4) Turn the key back to REG.
