When you do the reprogram, make a readable record of exactly which settings you make. That way it'll be a simpler walkthrough if you lose the programming again.
If you can make an electronic backup, even better. So lomg as you make certain you can actually restore from the backup and keep two copies, one onsite, the other off-site
