My remote has broken, the red wire has disconnected inside, any ideas from anyone, I don't have a number on the back of control.

The reply from 'Bonders' (Nov 2010) was a great help, I tried it and it actually worked. I used an electronic contact cleaner/lubricant to clean inside the switch. Be really careful with the glue, use the smallest amount you can. I used the point on the end of a cocktail stick as the applicant for the glue. A great help, thanks.

The buttons on my remote became unusable however hard you pressed. For the adventurous the following solution works real fine.
1.Remove battery.
2. Unscrew back plate(single Phillips screw) and take out circuit board.
3. You will see the 4 micro switches. Each has four black sealing patches. Cut these of with a SHARP stanley knife and take off the top part with the button on it. Careful
4. Remove the copper disk and clean the bottom side. I used brasso.
5.replace the copper disk and the top of the switch with the four holes aligned with the four pegs. Make sure it sits right down and seal each peg with a minute blob of glue. (Araldite rapid)
6.replace circuit board into holders and replace battery.
Good luck

did the learning TV remote control work with your fire? If it did I would be very interested to see how you made the two work together please.
Thanks

Verine make a big selling point of all their fires being guaranteed for 5 years. I would expect that to include the remote.

I have just had my Verine remote control repaired by "Remote Fixer.co.uk. Tel: 0845-838-6182
The buttons were replaced for £20 and the service was very good. They normally repair TV remotes but I phoned and they said if we can't repair it we won't charge you.
I did phone Verine who informed me that they only sold the remote controls with a fire and put me on to a company that would supply a replacement for the rip-off price of £59.
Repair much better value, after all there is barely anything in there.
I won't buy a Verine fire again as their after sales is non-existent!!!

£58! Ouch! I managed to fix the old RC (temporarily at least). Undo the screw in the back and it comes apart. Then spray some switch cleaning lubricant like Servisol (about £3.50 from Maplin) into each of the 4 buttons on the PCB and press each until the LED starts flickering. Then put it all back together. The units seem to fail because they are not used for many months and a little dust gets between the contacts. As a back up I am going to use my TV learning remote to control the fire.

For info - the number on the remote is the model number not the part number you need to order a replacement. I have just found one with Radient Heating Supplies 0845 130 4573.Expensive at over £59, but very efficient.

These are available from Gas On Spares (0800-389-0907) for the exhorbitant price of £58.31 delivered. (Dec 2009)
A hefty price to pay for what is a poor quality item which I am sure could be repaired cheaply.

I have a remote control for my Verine gas fire not sure if it is same model as yours but it has a number on the back which may help you in your search.
