How can I fix my Hotpoint RF20A?

My Hotpoint has stopped working. The thermostas seems ok, as does the compressor. I suspect the unit on top of the compressor, but I don't know what it is (solid state relay)... Any help would be gratefully received.

the unit attached to the the compressor is a condensor i.e. capacitor, it is used bypass coils on the compressor motor in order to start the motor i.e. Induction Motor.
