my mortice door bolt is in the locked position and i cannot turn the key to open it, ive tried other keys to no avail

you could try getting a new key from the old one, the old one might just be worn down a little , tell him this when he is cutting it out , , and he might make it just a little tighter, as he cuts the new , its worth a try , before you call out the locksmith , also try spraying WD 40 into the keyhole, , blast it with it , . good luck .
