i think it might have somthink to do with the laser not picking up, that the dvd disk is there in the drive bay or the chip on the mother board might of lost some sort of insuctions / code that makes the laser moters move in the wrong directions only a guess might be wrong hope this helps a little. i have same problem with my dvd player it only reads music cds ,very strange this is ?
