Pilot light keeps going out on Glow worm BF50?

Hi, For the past week or so the pilot light keeps going out on our Glow worm BF50. We are able to relight it with no problems but it only stays lit for 30 mins max. Do you think that the thermocouple needs replacing? or do you replace this if the pilot light wont stay on at all when first re-lit? Could there be another problem?
Any help would be very much apprciated.

I had the same problem,so replaced the thermocouple,it still didn't work, took out the pilot injector which was slightly blocked,so replaced it,problem solved. My boiler is a Glowworm EP40b.

There are a few components that are connected here, the pilot light burner itself, the thermocouple and the gas valve. These all are gas or safety components of a gas appliance, my advice would be to contact your Gas Safe Registered engineer as these components should all be tested to make sure they fail safe. It is never possible to identify the actual one as they all work together.

Depending on the version of the BF 50 it is possible that an overheat interrupter could also be in operation, again this is a safety device and requires to be tested.

I would not recommend a DIY repair. At the moment the Uk weather has not significantly changed to cause the rush of appliances requested for service or repair, I would act now to find an engineer, beat the rush and be safe.

UPDATE.. I re-lit the pilot light about 10 mins ago with no probs. I have just heard a clunk from the boiler and the light is out. I put my hand on the front of the boiler and it was really hot, I couldn't keep my hand on it it was so hot. I've never really felt so don't know if this is normal?? Could this be the problem??
Thanks for looking.
