Audi satnav can't locate my position?

Hi, i have a 54 plate Audi A4 cabriolet, the inbuilt satnav cannot locate the cars position, most of the time it thinks i'm driving somewhere in Europe! When i check the settings it says there are no receivable satelites? Can anybody help?

I had the same issue on my 03 S6. In the 'settings' options I found the option 'Setting your location manually'. I did this, went for a drive and it seems to be working again!

I had the same problem with my RNS E in my 02 A4, after no joy from Audi dealer muppets i searched on net and found an article that said you have to put the unit into engineering mode and set the road pulse,s or something so i put it in engineering mode, drove it for a short distance and hey presto, it worked. To put the unit in engineering mode, press Nav then hold top left arrow button for 5 seconds then press top right arrow till it goes into engineering mode. Hope this helps.

Same issue, took it into Audi and they came up with some bs about these things just happen. It cost me £200 to fix a year ago. Now my original DVD is unreadable but the Europe one is fine and reads ok.
Audi said my DVD was scratched and it will need replacing. I did try to argue that it didn't make sense as I'm not in the habit of interfering with the disc and couldn't understand how the disc could get scratched.
Anyway long story short, I agreed to get it replaced.

And guess what? they ordered a new disc and put it in and it was still unreadable. They can't explain it and now suggest replacing the entire unit. I had to just walk away from the Audi centre to calm myself down.

Hi, did u have any luck with this. I have an a6 I,ve had from new . the sat nav started to play up last summer 2010, showing us miles out of position. then worked again for a couple of months finally failing altogether. worked for a couple of weeks when temperatures were well below freezing, stopped again as soon as things warmed up. asked for advice at audi dealer, they told me i'd have to book it in for a diagnostic test. i haven't had the car serviced there since the warrenty ran out, so they really didn't want to know. would like to know how you got on

I have same problem with my Audi A6 2005, it always seems to be 5 or 10 miles off. Wet weather seems to cause the problem with mine, have heard of people sealing the roof receiver before now.

Not very good with cars and cant afford to go back to Audi and get them to do it - not sure how you would fix the above mentioned antenna but it sounds worth it. Wouldnt mind a heads up on how to do this :-)

Had the same problem with my sat nav plus in my 05 A6 Avant, Audi wanted £400 to fit an original aerial/antenna !! bought an antenna from ebay for £10.99 (FAKRA GPS Antenna Audi RNS-E VW RNS2 Pioneer GEX-P920X) it works perfectly!!!

Similar problem recently. Audi replaced the receiver/aerial on the roof and this solved the problem.
