My Wharfedale DVD Recorder DVDR24HD250F will not switch on?

My Wharfedale DVD Recorder DVDR24HD250F will not switch on. The machine tries to start & a click can be heard.

I have taken it to a repair shop but have been told the microprocessor needs re-setting but all attempts have failed to re-set it.

Can you supply instructions.

I do not know for certain what the solution may be, as I have not experienced this particular problem on this model. However, I have discovered with other hard disk recorders that if you follow the following actions it will re-activate an apparently dead machine:
(1) Disconnect from mains socket.
(2) Whilst pressing the OKAY button, reconnect to the mains and hold until a message comes up on the display panel. This is often 'RESET' which means you can retrieve factory default settings.
I appreciate that your machone does not have an 'OKAY' button, but try the above steps using 'SELECT' or other button options. Good Luck!
