Ariston A1636 awful noise spinning when loaded no noise when empty?

My machine was purchased on 11/1/05 from Curry's. It has been great until yesterday when on full spin cycle it sounded as though it was going to "tear apart". The drum revolves with no noise on the wash/rinse cycles - it just happens on the spin cycle. I've put it on the spin cycle empty and there is no noise. Could do with a reply - my husband, who would have diagnosed this, sadly died in March so would appreciate some feedback.

Thank you for your reply. Yes the dampers had worked loose - just needed the bolts tightening up. Had to call out Hotpoint Engineer as machine was still within 5 year parts cover, just in case it needed new parts £99.+ call out fee. Still nice bloke keen on Rallying arrived so felt he was just the chap - in tune with machinery.

Sorry for you loss.
The washer problem could have several causes, more detective work will be required. I am not too familiar with this particular model so hopefully someone else will input here as well.
A couple of things you should check first...Open the door & lift the drum up & down to check if there is any slack. Check that the machine empties properly. Post new findings.
Other problems could be: friction dampers (shock absorbers) defective or a counterweight could have worked loose.
