central heating guage on the boiler rises to 2.8bars when heating is on?

What is causing the guage on the combo boiler (Worcester) to rise to nearly 3 bars after a few minutes when I put the central heating on?

Probably the expansion vessel has little or no air in it....if you can drop the boiler pressure to zero and then put a car tyre pressure gauge onto the expansion vessel valve, you need 10 psi in there.... so out with the foot pump!
