cobra alarm key fob stopped working?

I have a 1997 bmw 318i with a cobra cat1 fitted. I came home and armed it. When I tried to dissarm it nothing happened. The light on the fob still comes on but you have always needed to be within 5 foot of it to work so I am thinking maybe the battery. Can you advise me please?

thanks mate but I tried that and it still womt work although now when you press it the imobiliser light will stay on for a couple secs before flashing as normal

first u have to be right near ur car...then...press n hold both buttons on the remote...now the small red light in the remote will blink for few seconds...once the blink stops...press the larger button twice..(the larger button is where u arm n disarm ur car)...hope this helps....
