I have a Mitsubishi video cassette recorder HS-M34(B) which I purchased in 1991 and which is still working perfectly. However, when attempting to set the present time the year digits can only be set to years 1991 - 2005 which is not much use in 2006.
Can anything be done about this other than write off the instrument ?
On some old video players you cannot set the appropriate year, but the year is not really necessary is it really? (as the programmers proberly expected it will not last long)

Use a previous year where the day and dates are the same including leap year. Even though the date will show in the 1990's it will be fine - YEARS don't matter just day and date.
