U1 means it has checked that water has filled but wash action has not started properly. It can be caused by a number of reasons. Too much soap suds in water. Drain pump not pumping out all the water maybe because of a blockage or kink in the drain hose. Water taps not fully turned on or the hose filters may be blocked. Finally the wash pump motor does not start after water has filled. Either by a faulty motor or a faulty control board or faulty wiring. Plenty of things to check.
