are immersion heaters repairable if they are leaking?

i have a leak in my immersion heater the size of a pinhead.
Do i need a new immersion heater or is it repairable?
If it is repairable what product should i be fixing it with?
or if i need a new immersion heater what kind of price will it be and how much will i be charged for it to be fitted?
thanks for replys in advance

I agree with John, new one needed, but some times they do not want to come out of the cylinder, and you can end up damaging the cylinder then you need a new one aswell. I hate changing them for this reason. Sorry to be a permist , just letting you know what could happen, then again it could come out now problem, cost if it come out approx £60/80, if not £100,s good luck

Immersion heaters shouldn't be repaired. A replacement is simple - so long as the old one screws out of the copper cylinder. Your plumber will or should make you aware of the risk before he starts the work.
