I wouldn't recomend trying to repair this your self unless you feel totally confident about the out come.
The finepix f480 lens unit is one of the more complex lenses I have repaired. Just to access the lens unit requires a total strip down of the camera.

I have the same camera and the same problem. I dropped mine though. Jessops said it would cost £150 to repair and tried to convince me to buy a new one................ Hope they are wrong.
