Citroen C3 Desire central locking issue?

Car was working fine. Then tried to unlock car and nothing happened. No noise coming from car when pressed key fob and no lights flashing on car in response to pressing on key fob.

Replaced batterys in car key fobs and car responding to key fob but not correctly. Car will not open when using key fob. Have to open drivers door using key and all other doors remain locked. Pressing unlock button on key fob will open boot however, just not any of the doors.

Have tried re-synching keys, have replaced fuse for central locking. I have no idea what is wrong??

When I press the unlock button on the key fob the car makes an unlocking noise and the lights flash 3-4 times in quick succession but without the doors actually being unlocked.

Have taken it to a citroen dealer to have keys re-programmed via computer but apparently this did not work either.

If you are in the car and press the lock button on the key fob it locks you in the car and you can't get out. The only way to get out is to open the drivers door from the outside using the key!!

Any ideas into what is causing this problem greatly appreciated.

i would think its the locking actuator/motor with in the door that has gone faulty

Hi Liam,

Thanks for your reply.

Have also now noticed that the child lock button is permanently illuminated. Figure this may have something to do with the fact that the car is permanently locked.

Would you suggest doing anything differently from the above knowing this??

Thanks in advance.

hi Donna, i had this problem with a customer last week. in my case it was the dash locking button that was sticking. try repeatedly tapping the button(on the dash) to loosen it up or dislodge any dust build up. failing this try removing the battery cables, touch the + and - cables together to dissipate any charge in the system then reconnect. failing that in the passenger side fuse panel, press the clip to allow panel to drop down. there are 3 big connectors plugged in. on the middle plug slide the red retainer clip out and unplug the lead.plug back in and close retainer clip, Tthis will reset the control modual. NOTE AFTER DOING THIS THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE. YOU WILL NEED TO RESET IT WITH A CODE READER. IF ALL FAILS ITS AN EXPENSIVE TRIP TO CITROEN IM AFRAID.
