My tv was working one night, the next morning it turned on but with no picture or sound.

To reset the Toshiba 57H81 back to factory settings all you have to do is unplug it, wait a bit (10 minutes) and plug it back in. I spoke with Toshiba today... thats the way to reset it, they said (They aren't the only ones). I was looking for the way to get into the factory meny/settings (anyone know?). I know there is a way because I bought this TV from my friend who was always out of the country. We figured, based on the stats that if you ran the tv ON all of the time, it would last over 15 years. I've already had a power board replaced. The engineer said that the TV was in Excellent condition and should last ten years. I'm very happy with it, but I hate to deal with all of the settings. I wish someone had the settings done well and could give them to me, so I could just set it. I've got this TV connected to a Yamaha A/V 7.1 ("A" speakers are the 7.1 Klipsch's, and "B" are two tower Klipsch's), DVD, VHS, Comcast HD DVR, and a HTPC (Home Theater PC). Does anyone have good video settings they want to share? cesarh1@comcast1.net (take the two 1's out of the email address and that is my address. BTW, he had it for two years, used it for about 175 hours, and sold it to me with the receiver and the HTPC for 1K. What a deal. Thats my buddy. Presently I have a bad shielded cable and I'm changing them ALL to Monsters. ALWAYS use a UPS for brownouts.

How the hell can you tell if a TV is working at all if there is no sound or picture? Isn't that pretty much what a televison is....audio...picture?
