Probably a load of junk in there preventing extraction, it happens when filters don't get cleaned regularly & people don't empty their pockets before putting clothes in the washer. Try & pull or prize it out with something, it'll probably end up getting bust but they don't cost the earth. I have broken lots & I work with this stuff every day.
