when doing pebble dash what type of sand shuold i use?

when doing pebble dash should i use sharp sand or ordiary building sand
Tony, November 2009
all rendering is done with ordinary builders sand,if you use sharp sand it doesn,t stick as well.the pebble dash should be quite wet when thrown on to your backing coat of render or it wont stick.Cover everything that you dont want messing up as well.I usually put some PVA in with the mix to help adhesion and cracking.Dont do this job in hot sun or if there is a chance of a frost.ive been doing this for a living for 30yrs now.

As far as I know and have used, rendering sand. Two coats, one for the backing or scratch coat to give it it's correct term then the finish coat which stones go on.
