How do i get my creda 1200 excel W120FW to wash my clothes completly??

When I put my machine on a 40c wash for 60-70 minutes, it doesnt wash my clothes well and they come out as they went in. Nor does the dial move round on its own, i have to physically move it. Please help, whats wrong?!
