Inputting a radio code into a Renault Megane Scenic?

When I input the radio code the cursor remains flashing on the last number and doesn,'t seem to accept the code which I know is correct. The car is a Renault Megane Scenic 1.6 Y reg.

press and hold 6 until it bleeps,this should then start the radio
