On my Bosch W/M the motor brushes are held in with two cross point screws - a flying lead wire pushes on. Som machines have a different fixing but it's usually quite obvious. You Tube has a video of brush changing on a Hotpoint machine.
Buy new brushes - take back off machine - remove old brushes - put in new brushes etc... 20 min max.
