UK answer

Freeview = Digital TV (DTV)

Your Panasonic box is Analaogue i.e. Not Digital (Freeview)

Your aerial should be capable of picking up signals in the air for both Analogue & Difital TV - there is seldom a need to change the aerial.

You might buy a Set Top Box and Run the Aerial cable into this and then link to the Recorder and to the TV.

Tesco are offering relatively cheap Freeview (set top) boxes - typically £20.

You may also need to link the boxes with Scart Leads - do not be tempted to buy the expensive ones (silly money) Tesco cheapest £1.97.

If you buy a set top box consider one with two Scart sockets - one for the TV and one for the Recorder.

Another option is to buy a Digital TV recorder particularly one with two Digital TV tuners in it. You can then record one DTV programme whilst watching another one - this is a much more expensive option but you have the ability to record hundreds of hours of programmes on the internal hard disk.

Another option is a subscription to Sky Satellite TV - currently £18 per month + £30 set up (they come to you and make it work) + Free box with two tuners and the ability to record 160 hours + £50 M&S vouchers thrown in.
